In the mobility pilot the partner affiliates and knowledge institutes develop a small-scale hydrogen service station that produces hydrogen using sustainable electricity. The idea being that this service station also contributes towards keeping the electrical power network in balance, by attuning hydrogen production with the fluctuating supply of solar and wind energy, and the fluctuating demand for sustainable energy. The hydrogen quality is intensively monitored in this pilot, to guarantee that vehicles can drive effortlessly on hydrogen.
Hydrogen-based mobility will rise sharply now that manufacturers of personal vehicles and HGVs are increasingly manufacturing hydrogen vehicles. The pilot will show if indeed is it technically and economically viable to launch energy in this form (H2 gas) onto the market via this distribution channel (service station). Moreover, the partners will chart the suitable hydrogen service station locations.
The pilot comprises six sub-projects or modules. One or several partners work on the realization of a particular module. The module is specified in such a way that it can be linked (“Plug & Play”) to the other pilot modules.
